Grief is Just Love

Jamie Anderson writes that grief is "all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest."

This suppression of affection and inseparability can feel so painful and lonely. When the felt sense of love lacks expression -- whether through cherished activity, relationship, or object -- one can be overcome with deep, deep sadness. That is grief. And grief can be expressed where love cannot.
